This year foul weather seems to be compulsory for fell
races. Wardle Skyline was no exception.
The circular course is quite tough and mostly runnable for the fitter folk. It takes in Brown Wardle, Middle Hill and has an interesting sting in the tail. After a cobbled section that seems to be the end there is yet another ascent. Its not big, perhaps 100', but with tired legs and a strong opposing wind its not easy.
The start and end are in Wardle square. Prizes on day and hot drinks available. Overall an enjoyable but not easy race, ideal for someone looking for a more challenging but not outrageously difficult fell race.
Update 2009: 12 of us recce'd this in April. It was harder than I remembered, especially the slog up Brown Wardle and the last mile.
