2014 Update – about 140 took part this year.  The organizers took great care to count everyone out and back.   The course packed a lot of climbs into the short distance, some of which were very steep.  The final run in is a blast and a little longer than you might expect. Very well run event.

-------------------------

This is tough shorty of a race, with a lot of ascent packed into not many miles.  I would definitely recommend it (take your flask and butties).

The race starts in a field next to the Ram Inn and takes an initial lap round the field, then along a trail to the first climb.  The climb was VERY steep and there was quite a queue walking up it.  The course has some great, steep descents (watch out for the dug out channels in places!). I don't know whether it was fatigue from the climbs or just a bad day, but I found myself walking at some points where I felt I should have been running.

Fell shoes were handy for blasting down the steep descents.

Good points:  Tough and interesting course, well marshalled and flagged, efficient registration.  Plenty of photographers and even a video!  Runners of high standard. Suitable for all abilities.

Could be better: Small car park full, parking on busy main road, only 1 trap in toilets (queues), no hot drinks, snacks or butties available at end.  Results took a while.
