Heaton Park Cross Country
South East Lancs League (SELCC)
Heaton Park is a toughy, with plenty of undulations, wind, mud and a stream crossing on each lap. Sections run parallel to paths so those in fell shoes possibly have a slight advantage over spike wearers because they can run on the faster tarmac path. Loads of parking (enter through North Gate) and good toilet facilities.
2010 update:
The course has changed by omitting the stream jump and hill immediately afterwards. Apparently one of the gates has been welded shut. This meant there was more tarmac, making trail shoes the ideal choice. The course distance remains the same.
