GPS Race Maps
Croatia, Slovenia and Italy
August 2007
The best runs in Rovijn, Croatia are to the south of the town, along the tree lined and shady coastal path. There is shade here both morning and evening. The surface is OK for road shoes and the route is mostly flat. See rock climbers along the way. Watch out though for the naturist holiday camp (you will probably find your pace slows on that section!). At the end there is supposed to be a bird reserve but I couldn't find it.
Rovijn is only 70 miles as the crow flies from Venice and fast boats go there regularly. Here is the boat taxi around venice, including the Grand Canal to the centre.
4 to 5 hours north of Venice and you find Lake Bled, Slovenia, at the foot of the junior alps. Visit the beautiful castle and take the boat trip to Slovenia's only island, at the centre of the Lake. Speeds reach a massive 2.5 mile per hour. A long journey but worth it.
