The start at Blackshaw Head was really cold. Finding your way from Wainstalls to Blackshaw head by car can be difficult, even more so if helped by Tom Tom. This sat nav will try to send you up tracks a horse would struggle with, so look at a proper map before your try to navigate by car.
The actual race route is tough but really interesting, with a bit of everything along the way. Not for those afraid of heights because part of the route is beside a cliff edge. Some of the descents are very slippery so make sure you have trail shoes (my partner had road shoes and slipped-over twice). The main climb is a slog and when on the tops its all mud and puddles, making for slow going. The final sting in the tail climb at the end is a killer.
